1952 Berk Ross
Willie Mays

This issue featuring Giants Hall-of-Fame slugger Willie Mays is one of 72 unnumbered cards within the 1952 Berk Ross set. The "Hit Parade of Champions" issue was the last of two sports trading-card sets published by Berk Ross Inc. of New York, NY in 1951 and 1952. This is one of about a half-dozen different issues featuring the great "Say Hey Kid" from his second year in the league.

Considered by many to be the greatest five-tool player in the history of baseball, Mays enjoyed a spectacular 22-year career (1951-1973). He was named to 24 All Star teams, is a 12-time Gold Glove Award winner, a two-time National League MVP Award winner, and a two-time World Series champion. Willie Mays is one of the most iconic players from baseball's Golden Age of the 1950's.

This is an outstanding premium-quality example with exceptionally attractive eye-appeal. It is near perfectly centered, with superb corner quality, light antique-white borders, and ultra-clean print. Mays' image is clearly registered and boldly printed. And the interior surface of the card is smooth and free from any marks or abrasions. This is one of just two examples graded NM/MT+ by SGC, with one finer.
