1958 Bell Brand Dodgers
Roy Campanella

This issue featuring Hall-of-Fame catcher Roy Campanella is one of ten unnumbered cards within the 1958 Bell Brand set. Designed to celebrate the Dodgers' move to Los Angeles from New York, all ten cards feature members of the Dodgers team. This issue was distributed within packages of snack chips produced by Bell Brand (a Southern California food company). Bell Brand went on to issue additional sets in 1960, 1961 and 1962, all exclusively featuring Dodgers players.

One of the most revered members of the beloved Dodgers team of the late 1940's and 1950's, Campanella enjoyed a stellar 10-year career (1948-1957). He was named to eight consecutive All Star teams (1949-1956), won three National League MVP Awards (1951, 1953 and 1955), and was the anchor of the celebrated 1955 Dodgers World Series championship team. After suffering a paralyzing automobile accident in January of 1958, Campanella was forced to retire from baseball.

This is one of just two examples certified as MINT 9 by PSA, with none higher. It features outstanding centering, four pinpoint corners, and pristine unblemished edges. The print quality is superb, with a stunning sepia photo-image of Campanella framed by vibrant shamrock-green wood-grain borders. The back features a bright ivory-white background with boldly impressed navy-blue text and Bell Brand logo.
